(a) the number of zoological parks in the country;
(b) whether the Government has finalised a vision document for the development of zoological parks/birds sanctuaries in the country; and
(c) if so, the details thereof? |

(a),(b)&(c) A statement is laid on the Table of the House.
STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a),(b) & (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 400 ON NEW ZOOLOGICAL PARKS DUE FOR REPLY ON 16.12.2009
(a) There are 197 zoological parks in the country including rescue centres and circuses.
(b) & (c) The Central Zoo Authority has prepared a document namely “Ex situ Wildlife Conservation and Zoos in India, Vision-2020”, for the future development of zoos in the country. Based on the same, all the zoos have been directed to prepare long-term Master Plans, as per prescribed guidelines/format. Further, there are 95 bird sanctuaries in the country but there is no vision document for bird sanctuaries. |
