be pleased to state:- |
(a) the number of recruiting agents authorized to send workers to foreign countries including Australia, State-wise;
(b) whether the Government has received any complaints against these agents for making money by duping persons belonging to scheduled castes/tribes, workers and other categories of the society;
(c) if so, the number of complaints received in this regard during the last three years and the current year, year-wise;
(d) whether any of the professional institutes, located in Ahmedabad, said to be an authorized agent, is also involved in such activities;
(e) if so, the details thereof; and
(f) the steps taken by the Government to check the activities of such fraudulent agencies in the country? |

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF OVERSEAS INDIAN AFFAIRS (SHRI VAYALAR RAVI)
(a): Total number of registered recruiting agents is 2080. At present, state wise data is not maintained.
(b): From time to time, complaints are received from the emigrant workers against the recruiting agents. However, the caste/tribe status of the complainants is not indicated.
(c): Statement showing the complaints received during the last three years is at Annexure.
(d) & (e): No such instances have come to the notice of this Ministry.
(f): On receipt of the complaint(s) show-cause notice is issued to the registered recruiting agents gainst whom complaints are received and the Recruiting Agent is directed to settle/resolve the complaint in the first instance. If the Recruiting Agent fails to respond to the Show-Cause Notice or his reply is not satisfactory, his Registration Certificate is initially suspended for 30 days. If the complaint still remains unresolved, the Registration Certificate is suspended for a further period and action is initiated for cancellation of the Registration Certificate and forfeiture of Bank Guarantee. |
