(a) whether the Government has any coherent policy to maintain the roads during the period of construction for converting them into four lane roads;  (b) if so, the details thereof; and  (c) the reasons for not maintaining the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway No.8 as per standard norms by the National Highways Authority of India? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI R.P.N. SINGH)  (a) to (c): Yes Sir. During the period of construction for converting National Highways into four lane roads, maintenance of the existing two lane roads are being carried out by the respective civil contractors/concessionaires under the supervision of consultants as a part of contract agreement.   The Jaipur-Delhi National Highway No. 8 is being maintained in traffic worthy condition by the concessionaire as per the contract agreement.
